01 Jul June Wrap-Up: Bright Ideas, Bold Moves, and Sunglasses Indoors
Ah, June. That curious mid-year moment when the sun is shining (mostly), our planners are scribbled with goals, and time somehow both speeds up and slows down. At The Creative Desk, June was a glorious mix of learning, connecting, reflecting, and yes—even a bit of sparkly mischief.
From neurodivergent-friendly networking to strategic soul-searching and the odd nod to quirky holidays (Sunglasses anyone?), we leaned into productivity, purpose, and a good dose of play.
A Month of Purpose and Pride
June marked Pride Month, and for us, that always means amplifying voices, celebrating individuality, and creating safe, inclusive spaces—online and offline. At The Creative Desk, we champion neurodiversity, intersectionality, and the brilliance that comes from people being empowered to work in ways that truly work for them. Whether you’re a VA, OBM, coach, founder, creative, or solopreneur with ADHD, you’re welcome here—labels off, light on.
Webinars, Workshops & Wisdom Bombs
This month was packed to the brim with learning and lightbulb moments:
- Powerhouse Finance Sessions every Monday with Profit Makers Power Hour, because managing money with ADHD doesn’t need to feel like juggling jelly.
- Mailerlite Mastery and the brilliant “How to 3x Your Email List” workshops were incredibly valuable. Spoiler: it’s not just about adding names—it’s about value.
- The cherry on top? A juicy workshop on “Insider Tips to Marketing Your Business”. Honest, actionable and refreshingly neurodivergent-friendly.
Deep Dives & Meaningful Connections
June wasn’t just about input—it was about integration.
From weekly check-ins with colleagues to VA peer support sessions and OBM course study dates with Advance Virtual Assistants, the month had a real ‘we’re in this together’ feel.
Highlights:
- Neurodiverse Peer Support Group magic.
- Strategy chats with Clair from Handy Marketing (a treasure trove of ideas)
- EmpowerED planning for exciting launches ahead
- Heartfelt convos in the Breaking the Cycle event—exploring mental health, ADHD, and why talented folk often walk away when workplaces don’t support their needs.
We also celebrated International Sunglasses Day on 27 June. We wore our sunglasses indoors and discussed boundaries. Honestly, setting a boundary is a bit like putting on sunglasses, you protect your inner sparkle from unnecessary glare.
Ongoing Learning & Course Development
Every weeknight, I carved out time for personal training and course development (usually powered by herbal tea and stubborn determination). I’m bubbling with ideas for training that actually works for neurodiverse professionals—practical, kind, and rooted in lived experience.
Life as a Solo Entrepreneur (with a tiny dream team)
I work solo—but never alone. My fab VA Jannet keeps me sane. Together we’re building something flexible, values-led, and human-centred. This month we:
- Tweaked workflows
- Brainstormed client projects
- And held space for those “What on earth am I doing?” moments (you know the ones).
Looking Ahead
July will be all about momentum. There’s content to create, systems to simplify, and joyful business to grow. Oh, and if you’ve been quietly plotting your next step—this is your sign to go for it. No need to wait for the “perfect” time. Neurodiverse or not, we’re building businesses that honour how we work best, not how we’re told we should.
